Re: saved on the EPS contest site.

Thanks for pointing that out. I look for links at the bottom of comments, not in the text above.

From that link it becomes apparent that the slide Doug was trumpeting included stats from chartered's 90nm production and may also have included UMC production.

The point of the post Doug was shouting "Liar" about was, I expect, relating to AMD's owned facilities. If Doug could have just pointed that out as an additional fact, instead of being so abrasive, it would have been helpful.

This is the AMD board. It's a "home" for people interested in AMD. If someone wants to call the baby ugly, it's certainly OK (shorting is a legitimate investment strategy) but it should be done with a bit of tact and a little consideration.

I'm frankly looking to get back in at a "blood in the streets" price like the one we saw a few years ago. I think the whole market is due to tank since the Bush/Republicans flushed 12 years of fiscal responsibility down the toilet. Note that the "real" Republicans are probably more upset about this than the Democrats - if there are any "real" Republicans left.

Remember when the Republicans were the fiscally conservative/responsible party? You may not be old enough - I go back to the Eisenhower days...

Regardless, I think the ATI buy was a mistake and that AMD's facing a rough patch, but I also know (from working with OEMs) that a significant part of Intel's success and AMD's troubles have been due to criminal actions by Intel. It makes it particularly irritating to see Doug screaming "liar" at someone who's just trying to show that there are some bright spots at AMD amid the darkness.

I continue to specify AMD products where they are suitable (and they usually are, other than in notebooks and some servers and workstations aimed at integer intensive applications) but I've been out of the stock for a while and don't expect to get back in soon.
