Conservatives get lashing over income trusts
Gwendolyn Richards, Calgary Herald

Conservatives were hit with an angry, verbal bashing in one of their own ridings Saturday over the federal government's decision to tax income trusts.

But the Calgary MP hosting the two forums was adamant his government would not "flip-flop" on the issue.

Constituents and others in attendance heckled Calgary Southeast MP Jason Kenney when he tried to defend the controversial decision made by the Tories last fall, yelling "Come on Jason!" in frustration.

"Sit down. You're a plant," the crowd shouted to one man.
Kenney remarked at one point during the uproar: "I wish I had brought some Valium for my friends here."
But he admitted the experience of listening to constituents and other Conservative voters affected by the decision was "humbling" and he would take those concerns to government.

Federal finance minister Jim Flaherty caught industry officials off guard last fall when he made the controversial announcement Oct. 31.
