I never said it was an easy job. But, by dividing us into 'good guys' and 'bad guys', the politicians just make a hard job nearly impossible.

Make Congress pony up first - cut the pork. It is not the feds job to stimulate local economies.
Revoke the tax cuts on the rich. These people aren't stimulating the economy, at least not with their tax cuts.
Use our country's biggest asset - our ability to spend - to stop flooding our nation with cheap products. We're only stimulating China and Indias' economies, and hurting our own. Walmart is as much of the problem as any.
As far as liberties, the programs that have infringed on our civil rights have NOT made us safer.
Torture doesn't work, that's been proven. It is also not the American way. It knocks us off the moral high ground, hurts the worldwide democracy movement, and endangers our own people.
Listening into conversations without warrants is also ineffective; you need to prove need as a filter to cut down on the waste of free fishing. Convince a judge, that would be the hurdle law enforcement must jump to justify the action.
Secret prisons, suspension of habeus corpus, reading personal records without cause - these actions push us more towards the despots, and destroy the example of American democracy for the rest of the world. |
