My question is generic, and it refers to my belief that the best candidates do not necessarily want the job but are drafted by people who recognize their abilities. I don't like it when people want the job so bad they will do anything to get it, like Hillary Clinton, for example.

I don't have any specific examples of the kind of person I am talking about. Fred Thompson, maybe. Condi? Colin Powell?

No offense to my attorney friends, but I think there are way too many lawyers in Congress, and the best Presidents are not lawyers but some of the worst are (like Clinton). I guess Lincoln was an exception.

So another question would be: "Are you or have you ever been a lawyer?"
