Precisely! That's why I think our system needs a major overhaul.

For starters, we could do away with campaigning and make people run on their records after being drafted.

Cut out all the mayhem and character assassination entirely.

Do away with polling entirely.

Require the NYT and other fishwrappers to constrain their coverage to what is said and done by the candidates, and put all opinion in a separate venue labeled as such.
