Make Congress pony up first - cut the pork. It is not the feds job to stimulate local economies.

Good idea. But politicians are rewarded for pork by votes.

Revoke the tax cuts on the rich. These people aren't stimulating the economy, at least not with their tax cuts.

Pure nonsense. "Taxing the rich" always means taxing the middle class too. Example - the AMT started out as a tax to prevent millionaires from avoiding income tax by selective investment - now it punishes upper middle income people. The income tax itself started out as a tax on only the rich, now everyone pays. The phasing out of child credits and deductions affects my family and we're a double income professional and school teacher family.

Use our country's biggest asset - our ability to spend - to stop flooding our nation with cheap products. We're only stimulating China and Indias' economies, and hurting our own. Walmart is as much of the problem as any.

There are two sides to this. Just label goods by origin - already done and let people be free to buy what they want or not. Banning imports hurts poor consumers. And the impact of imports may be overstated. I've read Walmart imports $18B of goods from China yet when I look at their financial statements I see their cost of goods sold was $258B last year - where is the rest coming from? Well, maybe some from Mexico, Indonesia, etc. but its not all coming from overseas.

As far as liberties, the programs that have infringed on our civil rights have NOT made us safer.

I don't perceive any liberty encroachment. What liberty encroachment have you experienced?

Torture doesn't work, that's been proven. It is also not the American way. It knocks us off the moral high ground, hurts the worldwide democracy movement, and endangers our own people.

As far as I know the US used waterboarding on something less than two dozen foreign terrorists, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Despite the claims I don't believe we're using widespread torture.

Listening into conversations without warrants is also ineffective; you need to prove need as a filter to cut down on the waste of free fishing. Convince a judge, that would be the hurdle law enforcement must jump to justify the action.

Warrants aren't needed for foreign monitoring and thats been the position of every administration since Carters.

, suspension of habeus corpus,

Foreign terrorists captured fighting Americans abroad don't have and shouldn't have habeas corpus.

reading personal records without cause

What? The FBI didn't open Moussawi's laptop before 911. Think they should have?
