Vietnam's first Apple computer store opens

A subsidiary of Vietnam's largest company FPT has opened the first store in the country specialising in distributing products of Apple Inc., company officials said on Monday.
"The shop selling only Apple products is one of the six we want to open this year in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City," a company spokeswoman said. The store is in Ho Chi Minh City.

The FPT Distribution Company has been authorised by the U.S. computer maker to sell Apple products such as desktop and laptop computers in Vietnam along with those from some 60 firms including IBM, Microsoft, Nokia, Samsung and Toshiba.

The company's revenues last year soared 74 percent from 2005 to $324 million, or nearly a quarter of the total revenues posted by its parent firm, which is listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Securities Trading Center
