I suppose if you take all of them at face value, including the canonical and non-canonical, you can find a lot of inconsistencies that would challenge the traditional view of Christ's time on Earth.

But then your motives would be no different that those of the "Jesus Seminar," a group of self-proclaimed experts who determined for themselves what sources to consider and what sources to ignore. Why trust the early church, when we have the benefit of modern scientific theory and intellectualism?

To me though, the early church is more trustworthy. The Gospel of John said it very clearly. "But these are written so that you may believe ..." Their purpose is clear and unapologetic.
