I would be in favor of it being taught only in college, especially if it is required as it was at my college. It was taught as "The Literature of the Bible". In public schools fundamentally oriented people of all religions would be offended by the rational approach, which is Fish's point. I agree with you that it would be great if it could be tolerated, but it never will, the way you are suggesting.
