--IF the killer had a permit for the weapons he used, then he was totally legal, but crazy. Federal law prohibits guns from school grounds. Penalty is one year and I think I recall the sentence is mandatory. I am not advocating for lax gun laws in school, but this is a case where attempting to completely ban guns means only the bad guys have them.
