Yes-- it is silly, made-up nonsense, and reprehensible that it was called "semi-news" by the Az Conservative and presented as truth with no caveat.

None of the other news stories have this quote. Iktomi checked several legitimate sources, as did I, and Pres. Davis said nothing of the sort. He mentioned hospitality (which you may find equally silly) and health and safety of the students who were using sinks to wash their feet (which is pretty icky), but nothing about threats.

I don't know Semmens; maybe he does this kind of thing all the time- but since the rest of the article was accurate with only that quote changed, it is not apparent. He should be called on the carpet by his editors. It does a great disservice to their credibility, not to mention the damage done by the quote itself.
