"Nobody should have a gun" is hardly the universal opinion here. But no, I don't want drunk, unstable college students wandering around with guns. You saw what one student like that can do (I speak to instability- no idea if alcohol or drugs were a factor); I think your policy would make occurrences like that more likely- even if we didn't have the suicide risk hanging out there. It's bad enough they drink and drive, now you'd like them carrying? Bill, why don't you try to address the heightened suicide risk a position like yours would create, not to mention the greater chance for domestic violence. I don't see why people don't champion the obvious solution- rather than arming teachers or students- how about some (or more) professional police on campus? Too sensible?
