They are legal right now!!! They are just incredibly expensive. For example $10,000 for a legally transferrable MP40 sub-machine gun like you would see on Hogan's Heroes. Have to pay a $200 tax to the BATF and live in a State and locality where they are also legal. The are even grandfathered in DC!! There are something like 2,000 legally owned machine guns in DC right now.
