Dan,

I would recommend what is called a "Simple A/B Trust" for most married folks (assuming you are married). Find a decent estate attorney. They do these things in their sleep. Also, I would recommend executing a durable financial power of attorney and an advanced medical directive with medical power of attorney. The same attorney can help you with these, as well.
