The Roger Simon piece from the Politico demonstrates what we all know that gun control has become a hot button political issue. We know that. I thought you were debating the wisdom of gun control not the political viability.

As for that, the political viability, it can turn on the proverbial dime. The NRA has successfully wrapped any attempts to have reasonable controls with the mantle of "let them have that and they'll take away all guns, even hunting rifles." A little like the Reps have successfully created a mantra which says any tax increases for the most wealthy are tax increases for everyone.

That will go away. Let's hope it doesn't take more Virginia Tech tragedies to do it. Just look at it.

There is every reason to believe that if Virginia had serious gun purchase laws, this might not have happened. The kid walked into a store on Friday, one story I heard, and bought it, no questions asked.
