Gun laws don't stop criminals. They only stop the honest. It's clearly one of your basic beliefs, Bill. But it's only a faith statement; it's simply not possible to substantiate. I keep thinking of one of the obvious consequences of permitting all students to have guns, which would be tantamount to a certain kind of student having them. The incidence of gun violence would escalate. And you would run the risk that all the group on group conflicts you have at colleges would lead to gun standoffs rather than the yelling and name calling and occasional wrestling match.
