When taxpayer funds go into subsidies and public airwaves are used to advertise these things then it goes way beyond the simplistic Reaganite 'Just Say No' crappola. These are physical addictions and, soon, physical illnesses.

Putting McDonald's or Taco Bell into public schools is ridiculous. Putting Coke and Pepsi vending machines into them is ridiculous as well. How in the heck did that happen? It's a losing battle for the kids and their parents when this is all that's on offer. It's too much pressure and pretty soon everyone gives in.

People should be able to eat whatever they like but I don't want taxpayer subsidies going into garbage and I want the ads taken off the public airwaves as a public service. There are 20 million diabetics in the US and Type II is affect children now instead of being an adult-onset disease.

This is sad stuff.
