"Well, if what you say is true, seems to me this AGAIN is much ado about nothing. Just an opportunity for the Dems to make horses asses out of themselves and COST WE THE PEOPLE incredible legal fees in attempting to create something out of nothing. The WORST I can see is IF someone gave a reason for firing that questioned the competence of the attorneys and the attorneys may have grounds for libel. jdn"

I think the real tipping point here was the claim by the AG's office that the attorneys were dismissed for "performance reasons". These people have to continue their careers in the private sector and having such a stupid, unnecessary claim hanging over their heads (unspecified "performance issues" at that) was something they could not let lie. So they howeled, and the democrats (and some republicans, I might add), could not lay off such a juicy political opportunity.
But, JDN, don't think for a single moment that this whole piece of nonsense is not the fault of the Justice Department and of the Administration, It is. They have scobbed it from the first moment, then made it worse, then made it worse.
All they had to do was give the attorneys a gold watch, a glowing letter from teh President thanking them for their service and say nothing if any questions were asked about why or why now. It would have been over without a ripple.
I saw a Human Resources seminar video last week on how to discipline and terminate an employee in the private sector, and the narrator used this as an example of how NOT to do it, citing error upon error.
