At first the police zeroed in on the boyfriend (named Karl Thornhill) of the first girl killed, Emily Hilscher. He had dropped her off at school that morning and left the college. The police considered him their first suspect and an APB was put out for him and he was picked up driving on a nearby interstate. They were still questioning Thornhill (the wrong guy) when the second set of shootings happened. The media reports that Cho and Emily were boy-girl friends is apparently completely false. It seems more likely he was stalking her or something. news.com.au
