I think its mistaken to think that bad things can be prevented if the authorities just make the right decisions. I don't think anything the school did (or could do) that morning would have made a difference.

i have never said that authorities could have prevented this, i've said repeatedly they could have mitigated the damage cho inflicted

not giving a fair warning (read honest assessment of the facts they knew at the time) put the student population at greater risk

you can argue ad nauseum how many lives might have been save or not, but you cannot argue against the fact that the fact odds would have shifted in the other direction with people adequately warned

they shut down the classes for snowstorms but not for a double homicide with the killer unaccounted for
