to whit, the first thing out of the mouths of gun lovers after hearing about VA Tech was to point out that had more students carried guns less students would have died. That's not less civilized. Its just pointing out the truth. Leaving people disarmed and helpless so that they are killed isn't very civilized. We aren't going backwards. The overall trend in violent crime is down. Also even if we were, "So who can blame the Muslims for doing their part in making the world less civilized", would be a ridiculous statement. If the trend was bad, making it worse is still a bad thing.
