There it is Triff; the answer. I suspect that's where we will end up. Maybe straight electric, maybe PHEV with flex fuels. If we have the raw materials for batteries.

EROEI has nothing
to do with it

Sort of does; if EtOH is so good, how come they run the stills with coal power? Cuz EtOh EROEI ain't squat. But it's positive, which is more than you can say about H2. H2 is perfect for Norway, tho, cuz they have so much hydropower, running 24/7. They store the electricity as hydrogen. Of course, if there was a world grid, they could send electricity to a different time zone.
