I'm not sure of exactly how much the economy of FL diverged from the economy of the country as a whole, so its hard to say exactly how well the economy of FL and the the number of murders correlate; but both the number shows a trend down shortly after the concealed carry law went in to effect. It was passed in 1987 but not until October, the law wasn't in effect most of that year. And after that it takes time before large numbers of people have guns and permits. After that peak you mention in 1981, the murder total went down slightly but it was fluctuating more than it was showing strong downwards trend. After '88 it went through a strong downwards trend, despite the increasing population of FL.

Of course there are other factors to consider such as the economy and demographics. Its possible those factors where each bigger then the changes in gun laws. But the data you present at least shows that the concealed carry permit law didn't kick off the "wild west shootouts", and massive increases in murders that many of its opponents predicted, and that Tejek thinks repealing any gun control laws will cause.

Even if relaxing gun control can't be absolutely proven to reduce gun violence, if there is no evidence to show that gun control laws decrease it, their justification is rather shaky.
