I'm sure the IRA have benefitted very nicely from back room deals though in order to give up their arms. Money is the best cure for misplaced ideals. I have actually seen very good coverage on the Beeb about the upswing in Ireland's economy believe it or not. Even when I was growing up in the Republic in the 70s and 80s their coverage of the affairs in Northern Ireland were remarkably unbiased considering the events that were unfolding. It formed the basis of my respect for their service.
