Jusst a rant:

I have followed Q since 1989--not from the inside, but from very close to the inside circle. It was clear to me that Q's tech was going to shake up the status quo and was going to be disruptive to the current market honchos. Q has been attacked from the beginning and understandably so. The Nok's, the Ericsson's and the the GSM world had a lot to lose. Fortunately, the carriers looked at their bottom line and realized that Q's tech would make them a fortune if proven to be true. Well it was and the Noks and the rest of the GSM world cringed in terror at having to deal with an upstart company that all of a sudden held the keys to the kingdom.

The battles have been fought and won largely by Q, but the battles continue. No longer because of the technology, but because of money. These battles are now nothing more than an effort to minimize, as much as possible, the tariffs that they have to pay Q to use their technology. This is not unexpected. Many of Q's original patents are coming to the end of their lifespand. That said, Q 's continuation patents and other essential improvements to the technology are nowhere near the end of the life. That explains why NOK would consider many of Q's patents paid up and now royalty free. However, they entirely forget the rest of the portfolio which is just as powerful as the original 5 patents.

This battle will continue for the next 2 years. There will be some wins and there may be some losses, because that is what happens when billions of dollars are concerned. However, my money has been bet on what I consider the high road. I have made millions on Q (and also lost a couple) but in the final analysis I sleep comfortably knowing right will win over wrong every day.

Now I lay my head down to sleep, dreaming about my 76 on the links today.
