Agreed completely.

Do you recall the Danish chap Lomborg (sp??) who wrote The Skeptical Environmentalist? It was really a skeptical economist doing a cost benefit analysis of environmental issues as they relate to humans. It was widely embraced by the right wing.

What I don't understand is why such economists don't step forward wrt to the WOT and apply the same methods. Their results should be equally well accepted I would hope.
