Interesting poll....
***********SUMMARY CHART*********** Favor Unfav Can't Never able orable say heard
Rudy Giuliani 55% 25 13 6 John McCain 49% 31 13 7 Al Gore 48% 41 10 1 John Edwards 47% 29 15 9 Barack Obama 47% 23 19 11 Hillary Clinton 46% 47 6 2 Newt Gingrich 27% 47 15 11 Mitt Romney 20% 23 24 33 Al Sharpton 16% 54 13 18 Don Imus 14% 47 17 23
Nothing about Clinton's numbers seem surprising... public seems to think she is a well-known quantity, and here fav/unfav numbers are nearly identical. This has been the situation with her for a very long time (& is the reason I've long thought she would not be the next President).
Some of the others are more interesting results.
The ones with HIGH POSITIVE SPREADS between their fav and their unfav numbers (Giulianni, McCain, Edwards, Obama) it seems it's *because* they not only have strong support in their own Party, but they ALSO have EQUALLY STRONG, (or even marginally stronger) support among INDEPENDENTS.
The ones with HIGH NEGATIVE SPREADS between their fav and unfav numbers (notably Gingrich, Sharpton, but also Romney a bit...) it's because --- regardless of their support level among their home Party --- the INDEPENDENTS are *strongly* opposed to them.
With Imus (I guess he was tossed into this FOX poll maybe for comic relief... or else so they could decide how to instruct their talking heads to spin his story... :-), it seems that *everyone*, across all three groupings, Democrats, Republicans, and Independents, seems to uniformly hate the guy.... |
