UW, I know a little personal information about Euterpe and I assure you that both you and Lindy are much better men. <You use pissy little insults to act like you want a fight but deep down you know you don't have what it takes to defend yourself.
If it were not for better men your genes would have been history long ago.>
<I'll never allow you to prevent me from being able to defend myself. The very notion that your fear makes you want to deny others the capability of self-defense is anti-human, anti- common sense, anti-American and makes my blood sizzle.>
It's not so much Euterpe wants to deny you a means of self-defence as denying others the means of attacking people in a quickly lethal way. Misconstruing the argument doesn't make your case right.
It is pretty obvious that having a violent gun culture and lots of guns means lots of people end up dead. Note that the two guys who ran to their cars to get their guns had to run to their cars. People can't be bothered carting guns around all the time. The likelihood of needing to use them is so close to zero that it's not worth the effort. So they don't carry them.
Some more paranoid types do and I am somewhat suspicious of paranoid people who like carrying guns.
What is needed is to stop the production line of people wanting to shoot other people. Since that hasn't been achieved yet, a rapid response when they decide to do so is what's needed. Police are too slow to be effective because the cost of having a policeman walking alongside each person is prohibitive. As you say, issuing "Tonto" deputy badges as part of a well-regulated militia might be a good idea, so each authorized person could cart a gun.
So, in the first instance, rapid self-defence is essential. Or, just accept that there will be some losses. Because the chances of me being attacked are so low, I don't bother keeping means of self-defence at hand. I just accept that if somebody decides to sneak up and attack me, they can do so. But they'd have to be quite quick as I would take steps quite quickly to improve my situation.
Meanwhile, I think you are right that Euterpe is not manly enough to pass on good manly genes. She'd have to get a Y chromosome from somebody else, for a start. Grow a hairy chest. Deepen her voice.
