Elroy, the problem with that way of rendering the Iraq war is that the Bush administration did not justify it's invasion of Iraq simply on the grounds of either our national security in taking out Saddam, nor the defeat of a dictator. It was Al Qaeda all the time; well, when the air waves would not let the wmd argument, particularly, nuclear bust through. And, of course, we were invading to make the ME "safe for democracy."

The Iraqis are worse off, the wmds never showed up, Al Qaeda, which wasn't there, now is simply because we gave them the opportunity.

Reads like a defeat to me.
