It's treating the symptom instead of the disease. Arming everybody to the teeth is not what progress and civilization are about. It's an obvious step back.

That said, hell if I know how to treat the disease.

I think we have to look at countries comparable to the US where this is not the problem that we are experiencing. AU is one example. By the mid 1980s AU had experienced several of these mass shootings. It proceeded to pass some really strict gun control laws. They have not had a mass shooting since.
