Peru finishes 2006 as world's largest silver producer
LIP-wb) -- Peru will close out the year 2006 as the largest producer of silver worldwide after finishing in second place in 2005, informed the private National Society of Mining, Petroleum and Energy.
The organization of Peru's largest mining companies pointed out that Peru obtained a 16% market share of this year, followed by Mexico with 14%.
Compared to 2005 Peru's production of this precious metal rose by 5.9%, increasing its volume from 3,193 to 3,380 metric tons, according to the Mining Society.
