I have no idea if it is the same person or not. However, I agree with the writer about all of their assumptions, particularly the wide angle lens foreshortening distortion, visible in the second image. Here is a visual example of the type of wide angle distortion being discussed:



For the images of the woman above, the camera is likely the same, the person is the same, the angle is the same, only the lenses and their distance from subject differ (the wide angle lens was, in order to fill the frame with the face to the same extent as the standard lens does.)
