Here's the deal on Fla. as I see it. We have no income tax. Generally we TRIPLE our population every year in tourists. We have a sales tax as well as special hotel taxes etc. These tourists basically carry a major portion of our tax load. Many people come to Fla. because of our beautiful beaches and warm sea water. Many people are TERRIFIED that a major oil spill could ruin our beaches and kill our tourist trade (which is also something like our 2nd largest industry). These people put enormous pressure on politicians to outlaw oil drilling. Personally, I think that we can safely drill for oil but I am probably in the minority. jdn
