Seems there are no currently active LINUX forums but this ones title certainly fits my questions:

Need some FF Linux help.

Firstly I know nutin bout Linux, just installed a trial copy of Xandra to mess around a bit and see what could learn (dual boot install with XP).

Problem need to resolve is how to migrate my (windoz FF) passwords to the Linux FF. Dumb me tried to simply C&P the DB3 & signons2 files and couple others such as cookies etc) to the Linux FF profile .... outwardly file is there but if open the signons file only see a line and half followed by something like no such path access denied.

Interestingly its file size is correct so don't know if correct data is actually there or not. Opening FF view passwords option reveals no passwords.

Apparently cannot do a C&P between the two OSes (and maintain data integrity) .... really do not wish to hand enter all of them into Linux FF copy ... sure this has been solved in past by others ... would someone be kind enough to indicate the easiest method INCLUDING a step by step writeup.

Separate observation that would be interested in comments from others .... with just Linux OS running, its used all of 1.5 G RAM plus nuther 1.2G swap file versus XPs 800K RAM and NO swap but also with FF plus dozen open tabs and QT running ... additionally XP has several scanners, checkers, a firewall and couple other things running in background.

Linux seems to really eat the memory, also was quite slow in responding to mouse clicks .... are these typical characteristics??? If so must be horrible when actually have some apps running.

TIA
LTBH
