Hawkmoon, regarding the article you posted stating that; To Senator Reid, his conclusion is very simple and it is overly simplistic. Reid believes the war is lost because there is "extreme violence in Iraq." Most Americans, when informed accurately, think otherwise.

Anyone can make an easily rebutted statement and then tear it apart.

I'd have liked to see him tear apart a more accurate portrayal of Reid's position, i.e.,

"Reid believes the war is lost because we've defined a mission in Iraq which is at odds with their history, their traditions and their beliefs.

Reid believes that the years-long escalation in violence and an increasingly deadly insurgency cannot be contained by the American military.

Reid believes that there is no way for America to prevent the Shiites and Sunnis from waging a civil war.

Reid believes that the pottery barn rule is not a rule; we've broken it but our credit is maxed out and we can't fix it.

Reid believes that there is no nationalistic, moderate, unifying plurality in Iraq with the strength to create a moderate, benevolent government that will protect the rights of all the factions, protect the rights of women and become a beacon for the middle east.

Reid isn't willing to substitute magical thinking for reality based analysis."

Now that might have been interesting. What you reposted was simply crap.

In the past it was more compelling to rebut that crap but today only a few of the most indoctrinated even read that silliness. It must have been that way for the "flat earthers" at the dawning of the age of science. Ed
