Great Lady Songstresses ...

... of the modern day in the admittedly eclectic Anita Baker, Doris Day, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Lady Day, Sassy Sarah, Julie London, Lena Horne, Dianah Washington, Rosie Clooney, or Nina Simone class, are few and far between but include Norah Jones, and Elvis Costello's wife Diana Krall.

Add Silicon Valley's attractive 28 year old former software coder and pianist turned songwriter, then singer, Vienna Teng to that shortlist.

Her talking voice is very reminiscent of Joan Baez's, then and now. Her singing voice reminiscent of died young Eva Cassidy from Baltimore/DC. Plays nicely soft piano while singing. She released her 3rd album last year. If you haven't already discovered her, check her out. She is simply enjoyable listening

I seldom buy CDs anymore, preferring to rent tracks or albums from Rhapsody since my carousels, multi-disc players in the cars, and CD wallets in the seats behind are overstuffed. I have, however, purchased all 3 of Vienna Teng's hard copy CDs from Amazon for Sheila's and my enjoyment. $39 well spent. Some curmudgeons might want to check her out.
