Re: Gus, one would have thought they would have waited for Sarkozy to win before they printed their Mazal Tov stamp.

But, perhaps he already has??!!

According to the election math, he has, indeed:

a) Sarkozy got about 31% of the votes on his name
b) He can count on a sizable support from Le Pen voters, ie about 11%
c) He can also expect support from a few of de Villiers voters, ie about 2.2%
d) Most if not all CNPT voters (Frédéric Nihous/Chasse Nature Peche et Tradition --Hunting Wildlife Fishing and Tradition) are rightwing --another 1.5%

Grand Total: about 45%.

Bottom line, all Sarkozy has to do is to appeal to 5% of François Bayrou's electorate --no big deal, since Bayrou voters are roughly split fifty-fifty as left-leaning and right-leaning, which means that about 9% of Bayrou voters are likely to vote for Sarkozy --QED.
