There are no politically friendly places for gambling.
Oregon is in fact one of the most favorable states there is when it comes to actual gaming outside of Nevada anyway. There are 5 Indian Casino's, the state lottery is one of the larger, every grocery store, convience store, bar, etc has lottery tickets, you can buy lottery tickets at the PDX airport from vending machines, Oregon has one of the most organized video poker networds in the country. Yet every newspaper article and the Govenor, and just about every legislator, rant and rave about the evils of gambling, gambling addictions, etc. etc. but when push comes to shove and more revenue for the state is concerned there is little opposition. The newspapers oppose at the present time line games on the video poker machines. But few would advacate giving up the revenue video poker brings in.
BNGO's best avenue of approach in Maryland, and there are few other states that allow county control of gaming, and in paticular for profit bingo, is to advocate revenue sharing with the county in question. Offering for instance 30% of the net to a county could go very far with the county commisioners.
The simple fact is there are no states that are out begging companies to come in and establish more gaming facilities, at least in their public stance. But there are many states that are begging for more revenue.
