I wouldn’t say people don’t care whether the Bush Administration had good intel or not. Partisans don’t care either way except as they can use the argument to win seats in government… that is what they care about and what drives their defense of the decisions made in the past or in the bolstering of the Bush was wrong angle.

Rational people who are less partisan do care about real world influences now in motion. The fact is, Al-Quaida and Al-Quaida like interests are real world, alive and well. They see the current theater as a research and development tank for warriors and future strategies. Al-Quaida fighters return to whatever culture they came from and bring their influences to the folk back home. We know that Al-Quaida has goals that involve world conflict on a major scale as future conditions develop, and they are going to be patient until those conditions become ripe. The material and emotional resources of our culture are becoming exhausted and the idea of leaving the issue is gaining in popularity. But the issue/goals of Al-Quaida like organizations is not going away. If we turn our backs on that now, we will find we are forced to turn around and face it again in the future and it will be a much more formidable issue if we neglect it for a while.
