Ironically, when anti-pollution measures dropped the particulate count and eliminate smog in the developed countries, things changed.

It used to be very noticeable when you flew into Houston. When the plane started to descend, the sky took on a brownish tinge. I remember a satellite photo from that time period. There were brownish circles over Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin/San Antonio with white jet contrails connecting them.

You don't see that any more.
