You reminded me of the fact that I've only owned 2 brand new cars in my life. My first one was a 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne. I paid $2070 for it, which included extra money for white sidewall tires, a radio and a heater. Monthly payments were $65 and I could barely make them. My second new car was a 1978 Ford Granada. It was the last one on the lot as the 79s came out and the dealer wanted rid of it. I paid $5000 cash and drove it away. Both of those cars lasted about 140k miles before I sold them. In the meantime, I was often furnished a company car, always new every couple years. I was driving about 100 miles a day back then. But, the ones I buy myself have always been used.
