My personal *theory* (based upon anecdotal evidence only, but a life time of it :-), is that the MORE something is advertised, then the less good it probably is for me, or the less I'll find it useful.... <g>

(Which is, I think, why 'viral marketing' --- where the message doesn't appear to come from the vendor --- is usually so successful.)
