I don't see any give on either side of the equation. All I know is that it isn't up to the US to meddle. Israel falls or stands on its own but I have no problem relocating Israelis (except for those crazy screaming settlers and their ilk) to the US.

I figure that this is a cheaper alternative to constant war and fear mongering over terrorism than what we've been doing for half a century now.

I did think of another alternative which is to massively bribe people into accepting a new arrangement. I like bribery much better than violence which only breeds resentment and lots of stress. If we had bribed the Iraqis we might have a decently stable government and society over there AND we might not be expecting $4.50/gal gasoline here this summer.

We have spent enough in Iraq, to only ill effect, to have paid out the entire GDP of the country for a decade or more.
