Not my experience. I rarely turn off any of my Windows machines, either at home or at work. In fact, uptime on my XP mediacenter is about 7 months. Last time I had to reboot it was after a major Windows security update (most of them don't need reboots nowadays). I use that machine pretty extensively as a HD-DVR and a mediaserver (for my ipod and my WinMob cell phone), but not for much else.
