the price moves have been even more pronounced for USD-based holders, as CAD/USD has been moving up sharply. the higher CAD actually hurts COS' results a bit, as indicated in their sensitivities. each cent CAD/USD goes above .87 (as a yearly average) costs COS $21 million! or about 4 cents a share, CAD.

for the USD-based investor, a considerable portion of this is gained back as earnings (and dividends) are translated back into USD, but not the entire amount.
