What? Ten, I don't think you've been reading the same news that I have been. If we wanted to get off the oil, we could do it in a number of ways. My favorite is the all electric car. The average American drives less than 40 miles in any given day. Electric cars exist today that can get more miles than that. Create a Plug-In Hybrid and most people can drive electric all day without using one drop of oil. Of course, this doesn't solve the climate issue, because 60% of our electricity is generated by coal burning. But if we focus on oil independence first, then this alone would solve that problem. We could be oil independent in 15 years, through the proper incentive structure.
