One thought that always occurs to me is the difference between individual planning vs. mass planning. The old statement was "what's good for GM is good for the USA." What if my own (and possibly most individuals') best coping strategies for peak oil/global warming/generational storm accounting are at variance with what's "best" for societies as a whole? It's tough to tell folks not to act in their own interest. Goes against evolution. I'm not sure that that is the situation here, but it may well be. My guess is that mega$$ will shield some folks longer than others, LOL. SG
