As your monitor has electrons fired at it, the mask on the screen can be slightly magnetized. A speaker placed to close to the CRT can cause a local magnetizing effect. Magnetizing the CRT will cause discoloration.

The degauss function will eliminate this rogue magnetism by having the gun shoot an extra burst of energy at the screen.

So, you are referring to using Laz as setting the colors of your world back to true.
