Yeah that's probably true to some extent. But my brother has a decent Dell. He's always been a Dell man, good Dells and he's always had problems. Same with my Ex except Gateways. I have to say Gateway did have pretty good support, and she called them a lot.

My brother's wife's sister is a systems person with ATT, so they standardized with Windows. But they were so flummoxed several times they bought new machines rather than try to excise all the spyware/viruses they contracted.

I haven't had a huge amount of problems, but that's because I know how to build a machine and keep it running fairly well.

Any newbie can run a Mac without worrying.

I think a real test would be in a college design lab where they have both types of machines. Kids are downloading and doing all sorts of inappropriate things with the machines. Mine did and I worked in the lab for pin money.

You can pretty much guess where the systems guy spent most of his time. Come to think though I did pick up Mac viruses a few times there. Nothing bad and easy to get rid of. My pal though had his PC and his entire portfolio wiped by a PC bug. All I could do is comiserate with him. Didn't mention Macs right then.
