I don't find this (inability to make text selection) to be a problem with XP or Vista. I didn't notice it either until I switched from primarily using my office (Mac) to my late Mom's Office (XP). Then I noticed it. Then it started to bother me. Now I'm incensed! It drives me slowly crazy. I've almost finished moving my office stuff around... and I've decided to sell the PC... later this year I'll be buying a Mac Tower, on which, I'll install a nice fresh copy of XP. No need for two computers at that time. I'd just use Wine but I'm interested in sharpening my PC skills so I can pick up a few bucks.
